Can we truly awaken only by deviating from the established trajectory? In the exhibition "Veering", artist Hu Xiaoyuan uses seven sets of newly commissioned works intertwined with installation, sound, painting and video to show the complex relationship between human destiny and natural evolution, exploring this ultimate issue related to individual survival and the meaning of life. question. Hu Xiaoyuan uses everyday materials such as space aluminum, shells, silk and corn fiber as creative media, and uses gauze and lights to create a unique viewing route, blurring the distinction between day and night. Through the experience of chaotic space, the exhibition leads the audience to think about time, material state, individual existence and consciousness and other enduring issues.
"Veering" is one of the "Breakthrough" series newly curated by Tai Kwun Contemporary Art Museum. This series showcases cutting-edge artistic practices and perspectives through innovative forms such as independent solo exhibitions and commissioned works. In the spring of 2025, "Hu Xiaoyuan: Veering" will be exhibited simultaneously with "Alysia Quade: Pitopia" and "Maeve Brennan: Chronicles of Things." The exhibition of three female artists explores materiality and narrative in various aspects.
